Bird and Bastard Success
Yes, the 'Little Baby Cheeses' debut gig went well. Arrived at the Eagle and Child around 6 o'clock to set up. Many people were already there, people who had quite clearly been drinking all day... on a Wednesday. Ah, well - that's the Eagle for ya. Anyhow, finally went on shortly after 9:30pm - after locating my drumsticks, which I had hidden from the punters/pissheads to stop them playing my kit.
The band sounded great - despite early problems in hearing/miking the melodica. It really makes a big difference being able to turn up a bit. Some bits sounded very 'dub' indeed. There were no major mistakes that I was aware of. We ended the night with an encore/jam of 'Legalize It' by Peter Tosh, which is virtually the theme song for the Eagle. We got really good feedback from the punters. Apparently someone has phoned Matt about doing a bigger gig at the Camelot's nightclub in Doncaster so... next stop 'world domination.'
